In its article, "GLOCK Discontinues Dozens of Popular Handgun Models," Shooting News Weekly confirms that "GLOCK has announced the discontinuation of more than thirty models of their uber-popular handguns yesterday in a move prompted by a combination of litigation and 'right-sizing'" and links to a list of the discontinued firearms. The press release from Glock indicates that it is simply streamlining its portfolio of commercial offerings, and the article does point out that may be part of the reason since Glock is discontinuing models in .45 GAP and .357 Sig. But it adds:
The other more significant reason for the move is a legal one. Last week, California Governor Gavin Newsom signed a bill outlawing “machinegun-convertible pistols.” What that really means is GLOCKs that, with the illegal addition of illegally produced switches, either imported from China or 3D-printed, can be made to fire fully automatically.
But as it discontinues old models (including all Gen 3) it will be introducing its new "V" models starting in December which "will have rear plates and redesigned trigger bars that will prevent the use of full-auto switches. There will be new models in .22, 9mm, .40 S&W, 10mm, and .45 ACP ...." It looks like the new "V" models will include the 17, 19, 19X, 20 MOS, 21 MOS, 23, 23 MOS, 26, 44, and 45. Its single stack offerings are not affected by any of this.
