Too Stupid To Live?

 I caught this story this morning: "Customer fatally shoots alleged creep who groped shopper, threatened to kill everyone inside LA beauty store." The incident took place in Compton, CA. The gist is some guy came into the store, groped a shopper, was ordered to leave the store and then started busting up the place and threatening everyone with what appeared to be a knife. A female customer had a concealed handgun, drew it and fired a warning shot which the suspect ignored. The suspect then rushed at the armed woman and she fired again, striking and killing him. But this is the part that I found amazing (bold added):

    Frequent shoppers Almond Le Joice and Melody Johnson were stunned, calling the incident unexpected for a store that’s been part of the neighborhood for years and is usually calm and friendly.

    “Why would somebody do that here?” Le Joice told CBS LA, shocked that a customer was inside the store with a gun.

    “I’m glad nobody else got hurt, but for her to walk in here and have a weapon, that’s concerning,” Johnson said. “That’s awful that this happened here in this community.”   

That fact that if the woman hadn't had a gun, other people could have been seriously injured or killed was of less concern to these two women than the fact that that the woman had a gun. And this is the reason that you don't dare go in front of a jury in a blue city even if you have a good self-defense claim, because to them your being armed will be a greater offense than your attacker's attempt to murder you.
