This Doesn't Bode Well--CCP Truck Drivers In The U.S.

The Daily Caller recently published an article entitled "Chinese Gov’t-Tied Network Training Illegal Immigrants To Drive Big Rigs In US." From the lede:

Chinese illegal immigrants are obtaining commercial driver’s licenses (CDL) and landing jobs in the U.S. trucking industry with support from a Chinese government-linked network, a Daily Caller News Foundation investigation discovered.

The Chinese American Trucker Organization USA Inc. (CATOU) is a New York-based nonprofit trade organization registered as a 501(c)6 that has allegedly helped over 1,000 Chinese students obtain CDLs and has a 100% pass rate, according to its business filings, social media posts and website. Videos posted on social media by an individual who crossed the U.S. southern border illegally shows they were able to rapidly obtain California CDLs after taking courses taught by CATOU instructors.

Of course, it would be California issuing CDLs to drivers. And I would view the "passing" rate with suspicion: we have seen in other cases where certain groups or businesses were helping illegals get licenses that bribery had been involved.

In any event, not only does this present the same dangers to other drivers as having illegal Indian drivers on the road, but it means that a foreign power potentially has control over vital infrastructure. How many semi-trucks would it take to shut down major bridges or tunnels, for instance? And there is always the issue that this is merely taking jobs from Americans.

  1. There was talk of having a program in all of the states where commercial trucks were inspected at the usual highway inspection stations and have ICE officers present. Obviously, this will lead to judicial conflicts with non cooperative blue states, but considering the Federal funds used to build and maintain the interstate highways, sufficient leverage should be available to force the issue on the unwilling states if they want to keep their highway funds flowing. The primary offending states, California and NY, who have fraudulent CDL issuing policies could be prosecuted under RICO once enough evidence is gathered, and those programs should be brought back into some kind of compliance. In the mean time, the haul of illegals caught through the inspection process in red states should be sufficient to have a significant impact nationwide in making the roads safer, protecting American trucker jobs, and making that line of work too risky for the invaders.
