The Daily Mail reports: "Tearful mother of Brendan Depa, the hulking 6ft 6in autistic boy who brutally beat teacher's aide unconscious over Nintendo Switch, says 'prison is a death sentence' as she breaks her silence and pleads with victim to show mercy."
'I am terrified for my child,' Leanne [Depa] told NewsNation's Banfield through tears. 'I feel like if he gets sentenced to prison, it’s a death sentence for him.
She apologized to Naydich for the attack but pleaded for her to 'show mercy' after the victim called on the teenager to be locked up for the maximum of 30 years.
Why? So the next time he loses his temper he kills someone? It is quite clear from the security video that he was trying to kill or cripple the victim, stomping on her as he did. She wasn't even the one that took the Switch from him--the supposed reason that he attacked. It wasn't the first time he's attacked someone, either. The article reports that he had three battery arrests prior to the attack on the teacher's aid. And he was so violent that his mother had put him in a group home, admitting that if the group home needed to take his Switch from him, they had to call in a "crisis team".
He would have been a murderer if they would have let him. He'll never contribute to society. He deserves every day, and more, that he'll get.
