... from Active Response Training. Some links that caught my attention:
- Tactical Wire's analysis of the 1950's assassination attempt on President Truman. I had not even hear of this incident before reading this article. The White House was being renovated at the time, so Truman was living in a residence right on Pennsylvania Avenue which, because it was two joined townhouses, had two entrances as well as other security issues. Two Puerto Rican terrorist attacked the residence resulting in a gun fight between the attackers and the White House police and Secret Service agents guarding the building.
- An article providing the first look at the Davidson’s Exclusive J-frame revolvers from S&W in .32 Magnum.
- An article entitled "Everything You Know About Violence Is Wrong" which addresses 4 common but stupid comments that the author hears about violent encounters.
- An article from Lucky Gunner on the reliability of lever action rifles.
- A link to a PDF of a California manual on de-escalation. The only chapter of interest to the civilian is likely Chapter 7 which actually discusses some of techniques and tactics. While the book is intended for police, there are probably some lessons there for dealing with agitated people and may be especially helpful for those of you that work in retail or otherwise constantly deal with people off the street.
