The New York Post reports on a surge in demand by Jews for guns and concealed permits after Zohran Mamdani won the mayoral race, including among lawyers, doctors, and rabbis. The surge is still a pittance, though: "Conceal carry permit requests rose 14% from 620 in June, when Zo won the Dem primary, to 706 in August, according to the latest NYPD data." However, a gun safety instructor interviewed for the article expected the number to rise. It may be too late, however. The article points out that "[l]icenses can take between six months and a year to get in NYC, and only after completing a mandatory state concealed-carry class that includes 16 hours of classroom study and two hours of live fire training."
