From the Daily Mail: "Arctic radar station worker met horrific fate after ignoring warning signs to go outside and photograph polar bears." The article relates:
'Chris said, "Well, yeah, they’re not close to us,”' his mother, Shelly Cox, said he told his stepfather on a call moments before he died, according to CTV News.
'"God, Dad," he said, "You know, I know the difference, right?”'
We were up in Barrow years ago. Not much to do there so we went looking for polar bears. We were going up a small dune, keeping the wind to our face left the truck running and the doors open. We never got more than 25 ft from the vehicle. No matter, the bears that were there the day before had gone offshore to hunt seals.
