From the New York Post: "Minnesota mom who called 5-year-old with autism the N-word in viral video now facing criminal charges months later." You might remember this incident: Shiloh Hendrix was at a park with her child and, as soon as her back was turned, a Somali kid immediately started rummaging around in her bag and ran off with her baby's food. Unfortunately, in her anger, she called the kid a variant of the Latin word for "black". Then a black man, Sharmake Omar, confronted Hendrix, videoed her, berated her, tried to shame her, and challenged her to repeat what she had said, and published it to the world. And so the full force of leftist cancel culture came down on Hendrix.
But there was sufficient backlash to the attempted cancellation that it failed. The leftists in the local government needed to prosecute her. But the case was so weak that the best they could come up, even after months of study, was a charge of "disorderly conduct". The galling point about this whole incident is that her "offensive" language "will, or will tend to, alarm, anger or disturb others or provoke an assault or breach of the peace" only because it was broadcast by Omar.
The news stories about this indicate that the child had "gotten" an apple sauce packet from Ms. Hendrix, not the more accurate had "stolen".
