The Telegraph reports that "Black Lives Matter activists are failing to speak out about anti-Semitism, says Dowden." Per the article, "Oliver Dowden said he was disappointed that demonstrators were not showing the same 'moral indignation' they had three years ago to the death of George Floyd, which sparked protests in Britain and around the world."
Mr Dowden told Sky News: “If you look at the moral indignation and the clarity that we saw after the murder of George Floyd in the United States with the Black Lives Matter movement, we haven’t seen… the same kind of moral clarity showing that Jewish lives matter.
“I think that is a cause of hurt to the Jewish community and it disappoints me as well.
“Whether it’s on our campuses and elsewhere, we need to send a very clear signal that Jewish people are safe in this country. Not just for the sake of Jewish people but also for the sake of British society.”
Dowden obviously does not know what he is talking about. The BLM organization is founded on the philosophy of Critical Race Theory. Part of CRT is being anti-racist and anti-colonial. Israel is clearly "colonial" under CRT's definition of the term. Moreover, Palestinians occupy a higher position in the victim hierarchy than Jews, so supporting Palestinians over Jews is also anti-racist in this case. Of course BLM is not going come out in support of Israel. Well, at least not until they get paid off.
Dowden is also ignorant of Floyd's death, which was a clear overdose--he killed himself. Floyd only became a cause célèbre because the Left needed something to motivate minority voters to turn out for the 2020 election and cow conservatives.
