Some Alternative Carry Methods

I think The Firearm Blog must have struck some deal to promote products from Falco Holsters. That said, it is good to see a company producing holsters for alternative methods of carry outside of strong side OWB and IWB, or AIWB. A couple recent articles/news releases from TFB:

If I'm hitting the gym and plan on running but can't have a belt to carry an IWB style holster, this is a great alternative that allows you to comfortably carry inside the waistband on your hip without worrying about the gun shifting or tilting out of position. The beauty of belly bands is the fact that they are a self-contained system, allowing you to carry your regular carry gun without relying on a belt or IWB holster. The Velcro attachment points are rigid with a secure lock-up and the band is made of breathable, firm, yet still very elastic and comfortable nylon. The Kydex holster is attached to the band via Kydex mounts sewn to the nylon band. These bands allow a balance of breathable material and the Kydex reinforcement to allow for a rigid lockup where the band cannot fold or sag in any way. This is different from other models I’ve tried on the market because it's breathable but one of the most rigid designs that doesn't sag or become floppy as the day goes on. Stand out feature is the presence of multiple pockets along the band that offer generous space for your spare magazines, wallet, keys, or even phone.

I haven't tried one of these, but Massad Ayoob has suggested these in the past for those unable to use a belt holster. The primary issue with these is access to the firearm since you either have to be able to pull up a shirt or unbutton a shirt to access the firearm.

  •  "Into Alternative Carry Styles? FALCO's Got You Covered." This is more of a "press release" type of article rather than a review, but it notes that Falco has three new Kydex holsters: a chest rig, a cross-draw holster, and a small-of-the-back (SOB) holster. I presume that the chest holster is intended to compete directly against the Gunfighters Inc. Kenai holster, but the Falco model is just as expensive and the straps seem thinner. But what caught my attention is the cross-draw holster. I've carried that method and it is another arrangement that works well in a car (at least if you are right-handed and are in the driver's seat).
