One of the clearest indications of the quality of a public service is whether the ruling class makes use of those services. In the United States, for instance, it is quite common for public officials--even public education officials--to eschew publics schools in favor of sending their kids to private institutions. So I had to chuckle a bit when I saw this headline this morning: "Prince William visits Kate Middleton at private London hospital as she recovers from abdominal surgery." It appears that the National Health Service is not good enough for the Royals.
