I long ago noted that the only places you find characters similar to those in the Golden Plates were from the Micmac language (in North America) and characters copied down by a 18th Century expedition exploring the Amazon. Apparently there is a researcher that contends that the Micmac language is not native to those people but was introduced by French missionaries. However, in the video below, the author went to the sources cited by that researcher and discovered that is not what the sources say, but indicate that the Micmac were already using the characters when the French missionaries arrived.
In any event, the author also compares the Micmac characters with those copied from the Gold Plates and you can see that many are the same or very similar.
