Whatever you think of Trump admitting a small number of white South African refugees, it certainly has caused a lot of the masks to slip among his political opposition. Miranda Devine summarizes some of the leftist hypocrisy in an op-ed, entitled "The left tries to claim white South Africans aren’t worthy of refugee status." She notes, for instance:
[The head of the Episcopalian Church's] attitude is of a piece with the condescending, elitist attitude of Washington, DC, Episcopal Bishop the Right Rev. Mariann Edgar Budde when she beclowned herself at an interfaith service at Trump’s inauguration by lecturing the new president about migrants, whom she described as “the people who pick our crops [and] wash the dishes.”
Democrats feel the same way, with Sen. Chris Van Hollen (D-Md.), who recently traveled to El Salvador to spring MS-13 member Kilmar Abrego Garcia, saying the South Africans “do not need” asylum.
“This is the sick global apartheid policy being adopted by this lawless administration,” he tweeted by way of welcome to the handful of nervous moms and dads and small children waving American flags who arrived at Virginia’s Dulles International Airport on Monday.
Over on CNN, former Biden-Harris campaign staffer Ashley Allison went further, saying the white South Africans weren’t welcome in America and should go to their “native land” — Germany or Holland — instead.
Most of the leftist talking heads at least have the sense to hide their antipathy toward whites behind complaints that the Afrikaners aren't "real refugees," but some are saying the quiet part out loud as this Daily Mail article reports: "Black woman issues threat to white South African refugees allowed into the US: 'You don't have protection'." The woman at issue is Diva Moore. The article relates:
White farmers in South Africa have been murdered at alarming rates, but in Moore's vile TikTok video she warned they will be targets in the US.
'I just want to make you aware that the black people who were students during apartheid, we're grandmas and grandpas now... and we have the era of Gen Z, ok?' she said.
'One more thing, I also want to let you know that our president, he has Secret Service - and you will not.
'I also want to let you know, black people over here are empowered,' she went on.
'When you get here, sit your ass down and don't touch nothing, because you don't have Secret Service, ok? Now have the day you deserve.'
Moore links her TikTok to her career coaching business, where she touts herself as a 'luminary in the realm of human relations' who 'is the epitome of wisdom and proficiency' and sells her self-help book 'Get off your Ass, Get on your Feet.'
This is a genius Trump move. Makes the Left look insane.
