Thoughts On Biden's State Of The Union

Biden began by comparing his State of the Union word-salad to FDR coming to Congress after the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor and asking for a declaration of war. But this time, Biden went on, the enemies "we" face are both foreign and domestic. He returned to this idea of foreign and domestic enemies several times.

On the foreign front, the big take away was Biden laying the ground for expanding the war against Russia. He claimed that if Russia wins in Ukraine it would then move against Europe generally. Like Wilson's promises about not entering WWI, Biden promised that this conflict against Russia will not involve any American boots on the ground (he stated that there were no American troops in Ukraine, which is a lie) but just needed more money for Ukraine to prosecute the war. Actually, the military already transferred funds to Ukraine expecting that the funding bill would pass and now the military is in a bind because it doesn't have the money to continue many of its operations in Europe.

In a sop to Muslim voters, which may be key to Biden winning Michigan, Biden promised to increase humanitarian aid to Gaza, including building a pier on the Gaza coast that could be used to unload large ships carrying supplies. So apparently we will be fattening the people of Gaza with one hand and supplying Israel with the munitions to kill them with the other. Biden promised that there would be no American boots on the ground in Gaza. (I guess a pier doesn't count as ground?) I've seen it suggested that this is just a prelude to the U.S. taking over responsibility for security in Gaza, but my suspicion is that the ultimate result will be the forced relocation of the Palestinians to other countries--probably the United States--expedited by there being a large pier.

Israeli leaders throughout the short history of that country have repeatedly indicated that the ultimate goal was to drive all Palestinians out of the country and expand Israel's borders to encompass the area from the river to the sea. The Palestinians are equally adamant about removing the Israelis from their (the Palestinians') native lands. The two-state solution is essentially a continuation of the current "reservation" system and ultimately unworkable because there is simply not enough space for the two to co-exist.

On the domestic front, Biden laid out his plans for a war against traditional Americans and the middle-class:

  • He repeatedly emphasized that "we" face domestic threats.
  • He further embellished the narrative over the J6 protests being a "dangerous insurrection". As one of my sons pointed out, every time he talks about it, the fish gets bigger. And its true. His comments last night made it sound like Washington D.C. had been invaded by whole divisions of rebel troops that were barely fought off.
  • He pledged to ban "assault weapons" and "high capacity" magazines.
  • He pledged to end private transfers of firearms.
  • He threatened the Supreme Court justices for having overturned Roe v. Wade.
  • He announced higher taxes on income as well as the so-called "payroll" taxes on Social Security and Medicare. I know that he claimed that these would be limited to the wealthy and big corporations, but that isn't how it works. The reasons that the wealthy and the large corporations pay so little in taxes is because there are so many tax credits and deductions that they can take. Increasing the tax rate won't impact that fact. As for the "payroll" taxes, these are generally split between the employee and employer, but when you are a small business owner or sole proprietor you are both the employee and the employer so you pay both.
  • He didn't say anything about controlling the border--he simply doubled down on his proposal that would require at least 5,000 illegals per day be admitted and provide amnesty for millions of illegals already here.
  • He also doubled down on his complaints that that Congress failed to pass his bill that would make it easier to disenfranchise American citizens by diluting their votes by making it easier for Democrats to cheat and allowing the DoJ to step in when it didn't agree with an election outcome.
But this was merely part of a larger theme of tax, tax, tax, and spend, spend, spend. Especially spend to favor special interest groups.

But my biggest impression of the whole affair is how old, ugly and venal are most of the politicians, especially on the Democrat side of the aisle. Old, flabby faces, with crooked mouths, rheumy eyes, and noses and ears grown large from age. Pelosi looked like a stunted Hollywood witch whose clapping reminded me of the wind-up monkey toy with the cymbals. You half expect that somewhere she has a gingerbread house with large roasting ovens. Schumer looked like the caricature of a greedy old Jew, hunchbacked with the hook nose, beady eyes, and receding hairline. He followed Biden so closely into the chambers it was a miracle he didn't step on the back of Biden's shoes. Maxine Waters looked like a mudman monster from D&D with the flesh hanging loosely from her face as though it was melting and running. It would require a crane to give her a face-lift.

Truly, to borrow from Star Wars, you will never find a more wretched hive of scum and villainy than Washington D.C.

    1. It was a good opportunity to remind myself how deranged and hateful is Biden.

  2. I never watch anything involving Biden except his bloopers. The only things that braindead reptile is interested in is: ice cream and sniffing children.
