Modern Survival Blog: How Many Pounds Of Flour/Wheat To Make A Given Number Of Bread Loaves

The Modern Survival Blog has updated its article on "How Many Pounds of Flour or Wheat to Make Loaves of Bread." The basic idea of the article is to give you an idea of how much wheat or flour to store for a given number of loaves of bread. For instance, if you wanted to know how much wheat or flour to store if you planned on making 3 loaves of bread per week for a year.

The author's calculations are based on a loaf of bread requiring, on average, 1 pound of flour (obviously it may vary based on the recipe). As you know, flour does not store very well over long periods of time, so you want to make sure that your long term storage is in wheat that you will then need to grind into flour.

Anyway, he gives the information in several useful formats: pounds of flour (or wheat); number of 5-lbs bags of flour; number of 5 gallon buckets of wheat.
