In case you haven't already heard, the Church has bought the Kirtland Temple, some other historically significant properties in Nauvoo, and some historically significant documents from the Community of Christ (formerly known as the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints) for $192.5 million. Per the agreement between the two organizations, all the properties will remain open to the public for tours and the Community of Christ will have access to the Kirtland Temple for some of their meetings. The properties are temporary closed during the transition but expected to reopen on March 25.
