Anti-Gun Groups Want To Turn Your Pastor Into Your Enemy

From Shootings News Weekly: "Anti-Gun Orgs Urge Clergy to Use Red Flag Laws to Grab Their Congregants’ Guns." The article relates:

In September, the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health’s Center for Gun Violence Solutions published a tract titled “Extreme Risk Protection Orders: A Clergy Resource Guide” (extreme risk protection orders are the gun control advocates’ preferred term for red flag gun confiscation orders). The document was authored alongside groups including Faiths United to Prevent Gun Violence, Faith Leaders for Ending Gun Violence, and Jewish Women International.

By their fruits, you shall know them.

Don't Mistake The Left's Evil For Stupidity

Over the past six months, I've seen various articles reporting that professors with the University of California system have called for a return to using standardized testing for college admission. For instance, in late June, Campus Reform reported that "[o]ver 1,500 STEM faculty across the University of California system, including 53 department chairs, have signed an open letter to university leadership calling for the university system to reinstate standardized test requirements in the admissions process, citing students’ lack of competency in high school math concepts."

“Basic mathematical fluency is analogous to literacy; without it, success in university-level STEM becomes structurally unattainable for students,” the letter reads. “We now observe preparation gaps so severe that instructors must reteach middle-school mathematics while simultaneously teaching the material students need for sciences, engineering, economics, and other quantitatively demanding fields.”

The letter attributes the decline in student readiness to the University of California admissions system’s 2020 decision to eliminate standardized testing requirements, arguing that test scores provide a critical measure of student ability, particularly at a time when applicants can use artificial intelligence to assist in writing their college essays.

Accordingly, the letter calls for school administrators to implement several changes to the admissions process—including reinstating test score requirements for prospective STEM students and giving STEM faculty a larger role in determining standards for student readiness.

But Leftists are pushing back. For instance, George Leef cites to a New York Times editorial by Miriam Pawel that argues that California does not need the SAT. Leef explains:

[Pawel] acknowledges the criticism that has recently been lodged by faculty members throughout California that large numbers of students are entering college with ridiculously weak academic backgrounds—so much so that professors must teach basic high school math. Professors in the University of California system are pleading for the restoration of the SAT to screen out students who are terribly deficient in mathematics preparation.

But to Pawel, the low level of math preparation is not important. What is important, she argues, is getting “underrepresented” students into top universities and through to their degrees. The problem with the SAT is that it screens out many of the “diverse” students she thinks are vital. Admitting “underrepresented” students makes the university more diverse and that, according to progressives like Pawel, is a key element of social justice. The SAT, she believes, gets in the way of inclusivity. That view fails to consider the students who are excluded.

Leef points out the obvious: admitting "one student because his or her ancestry has been deemed 'underrepresented,' ... also means that another student must be excluded because his or her group is not one that adds 'diversity.'" He argues that "[t]here is no justification for labeling some students as 'diverse' (and therefore beneficial) and others 'non-diverse' (and therefore dispensable)"; but that "[i]nstead of seeking 'diversity' and 'inclusiveness,' it would make far more sense for universities to figure out how to identify applicants who have both the academic aptitude and the desire to study what they offer."

Leef's comments make sense and, in comparison, Pawel's seem foolish or stupid, even. But it would be a mistake to assume that just because Leftists advance ideas and policies that are (to any normal person) stupid, that the Leftists themselves are being stupid. In his piece, "Correctly Understanding the ‘Stupidity’ of the Left", Greg Salsbury warns against underestimating Leftists or giving them an excuse for their destructiveness, explaining:

We don’t tend to think of stupid people as evil. Perceived stupidity neutralizes perceived intent and, to some degree, perceived blame. “Stupid” is not the word that comes to mind for figures like Stalin, Mao, or Pol Pot, and it would have done us no favors to describe the Axis powers in World War II as merely stupid or crazy.

Calling an adversary’s actions crazy or stupid implies those actions produce an outcome fundamentally different from what their architects intended. But what if the opposite is true? What if the policies are producing precisely the disruption their architects sought?

In that regard, he reminds his readers:

As has often been the case with radical leftist movements in the United States, their stated objective is to dismantle existing American institutions, traditions, and governing structures in favor of a fundamentally different social order. Put simply, they despise America as it currently exists. Once you understand this premise, their positions look less like harebrained, stupid, illogical, or unworkable ideas, but as carefully conceived, sometimes ingenious tactics, intended to advance that larger objective.

In this light, things like defunding the police, draconian regulations and carbon taxes, mothballing coal and nuclear plants, wide-open borders, turning a blind eye to Medicaid and NGO fraud, supporting genital mutilation of minors, opposing voter ID, massive expansion of entitlement spending, lowering combat readiness standards in the military in the name of gender equality, and support for adversaries like Hamas can be understood not as disconnected examples of incompetence, but as elements of a broader ideological program. If it does damage to America and hastens the great realignment, they support it.

Whether one agrees with that interpretation of any particular policy is a separate question. The important point is that conservatives shouldn’t automatically assume destructive policies are the product of stupidity.

In that light, the objections to using standardized tests in admissions is not stupid if you realize it is part of an overall strategy of undermining the Unites States and the economic futures of white Americans.

VIDEO: Massad Ayoob Discusses Why Not Use Your Handloads For Self-Defense

Massad Ayoob has argued for many, many years against using your own handloads for self-defense based on a couple potential problems: (i) a prosecutor or plaintiff's attorney arguing that you specifically manufactured the ammunition to be more deadly; (ii) issues as to powder residue on the target when the distance to the target is a critical issue. The point to using the commercial ammunition is that you can verify or document what was used and be tested. And, if you are really cautious, you may also want to use the same ammunition as the local law enforcement, which makes it even more difficult for a prosecutor to question your choice of ammo.

Russians Denying Plague Outbreak

Outbreak News has an update on the plague outbreak with Russian officials denying that it was pneumonic plague, but was merely pneumonia of an unknown etiology, or that it was the result of a lab accident (i.e., apparently denying reports that she had become infected after breaking a test tube at work). I found the particularly wording of this statement interesting:

“According to the results of extensive testing, no microorganisms related to her professional activities were detected in the material from the sick institute employee,” TASS clarified.

And then there is this further confusing statement:

In addition to Rospotrebnadzor, epidemiologist Gennady Onishchenko, Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences and Deputy President of the Russian Academy of Education said, "It's unlikely to be plague. Although the plague's clinical manifestations aren't very noticeable, the most important thing is that snow has already fallen in Buryatia. The patient returned from Buryatia, where rodents and fleas are the natural foci of plague. We are constantly monitoring all these natural foci, but all the plague carriers are already dormant. In any case, we know this infection well, we know how to treat it, and it definitely won't spread.”

But if it is of an unknown etiology, how can he say that "we know this infection well"?

Why Are Bipartisan Bills Always Intended To Screw Over America

Yesterday's News Brief from Anonymous Conservative mentioned a bipartisan bill called The State-Sponsored Visa Pilot Program Act of 2026 (S. 5197), sponsored by U.S. Senators John Curtis (R-UT) and Mark Kelly (D-AZ). Curtis' web site describes the bill as "bipartisan legislation to create a new temporary visa program that allows states to address their unique workforce and economic development needs while maintaining strong federal oversight and immigration enforcement." He goes on to describe the purpose of the bill is help small business owners, farmers and ranchers. The text of the bills is here, and the first thing you will notice is that it isn't just for bringing in more cheap foreign labor, but also to bring in their spouses and children; and, of course, they can then pump out an endless number of anchor babies. And it shifts the burden of sponsoring that foreign worker from the employer to the American taxpayers. Now that is what I call a lose-lose proposition for the American people.

Bear Creek Arsenal Releases AR-10 In .30-30

From Guns & Ammo: "Bear Creek Arsenal's New .30-30 AR-10: Reviewed." I have to admit that my first thought when I read this was the famous line from Jurassic Park: "Your scientists were so preoccupied with whether or not they could, they didn't stop to think if they should." That most .30-30 is round-nosed rather than Spitzer wasn't a major concern to me if you all you want is a short range woods gun. That it is a rimmed case might be more of a concern--thinking of possible issues with rim lock--although the Russians seem to do fine with their 7.62x54R. But its weight at 8.2 lbs. is about a full pound heavier than the Marlin 336 lever action and just shy of two pounds heavier than the Winchester Model 94. I suppose it opens up more choices in the way of pointed bullets if you want to stick to the .30-30; but if you are going to switch to an AR-10, why not also go with a different cartridge?

Migration As A Weapon

The Powerline Blog notes an New York Times article about Russia weaponizing the flow of third world immigrants into Latvia and comments:

I have no doubt that forces hostile to the United States are largely responsible for the millions of illegal migrants who crossed our southern border in the years that preceded the second Trump administration. They obviously were encouraged and supported, and in some cases transported to our border. I don’t know whether the hostile forces that enabled that illegal migration included Russia. It could have been the Chinese, American Communists, or perhaps others.

"Perhaps others" would include those calling themselves Democrats, liberals, progressives, and all other sorts of names to make themselves feel morally superior.

Speaking of migration as a weapon, the Daily Mail reports: "Police lock down ENTIRE town to stop anti-migrant unrest as 12 protesters arrested after nearly 150 small-boat arrivals use 'new route' to land at historic naval port."

And turning to France, we learn that the third world invaders that have been protesting set fire to a school with teachers and students inside:

Footage taken outside the Vauquelin high school in Paris this morning showed violent thugs setting fire to the school's entrance.

Through smashed glass, flames were seen licking the front doors of the school. The flames appeared to be coming from a blockade.

After several seconds, two men with fire extinguishers were seen trying in vain to douse the flames from inside the building.

However, the blaze grew in size and ferocity. Behind it, young thugs were seen throwing things into the blockade, fuelling the flames.

Local media reported that around 100 students needed to be evacuated from the school, adding that demonstrators were shooting fireworks at firefighters during the operation.

Carole Zerbib, head of the vandalised school, said it had been attacked by a 'very determined' group wearing hoods and masks who tried to break through its main entrance and then lit a fire.

Police and firefighters quickly put out the fire and the school was evacuated and classes were suspended.

'It was very violent and happened very quickly,' she said, adding that the attack lasted between 15 and 20 minutes.

The same article reports that police took a hands-off approach to one rioter:

A 15-year-old boy picked up a police stun grenade, intending to throw it back, only for the device to explode and rip his hand off.

Footage from the scene showed several people tending to the young man as he lay on the pavement. His left hand appeared to be missing, with a bloody stump in its place.

Several people were heard screaming in the video. He was later seen slowly walking away from the scene.

Other reports said he may have lost his arm up to his elbow, but this has not been confirmed.

Wilder's Latest Civil War 2.0 Weather Report

John Wilder's has his October 2026 Civil War 2.0 Weather Report up on his blog. He is really hitting the dangers of immigration and multiculturalism this time, including this comment about the "student" riots in France:

Multiculturalism is ending the way multiculturalism must end, with violence and war.  Over 30% of French people aren’t French in any meaningful way, and they’re reacting they way that invading conquerors do:  they are desecrating symbols of the culture that they have vanquished.  Think the burning of Notre Dame was an accident?

Even Japan, which severely restricts immigration, is having problems with Muslims desecrating Japanese religious shrines.  Read the whole thing.

Don't Let The Democrats Distract Us From Their Crimes

 From Crémieux on X:

    Amazing.

Somewhere between 2 and 6 cents of every dollar of World Bank foreign aid disbursements got siphoned off into crypto wallets:

Immigrants: Coming to Take Your Inheritance

The No Pasaran blog quoted the following from  Larry Alex Taunton who had first hand experience observing the caravans of illegals that journeyed to our Southern Border during the Biden regime:

All of this [thoughts on the declining birth rates in the Roman Empire near its end] was somewhere in the back of my mind, a feeling at first, as I observed the third worlders making their way by the millions to our borders. I saw them in the violence of Africa, the intrigues of the Middle East, and everywhere there is misery south of our border. Generally speaking, they are a people inured to suffering (theirs or that of others), are accustomed to death, unaccustomed to the comforts Americans take for granted, have lived in nothing but squalor, do not share your views of private property or civil discourse, view violence as a part of daily life, lack even the most basic education, and have little sympathy for the low pain threshold of Americans.

These are the people coming to take your inheritance from you. Coming from a “might makes right” world, they know no other policy. They have no vested interest in preserving American law or culture, and that is because it isn’t their heritage and they don’t understand it. Democrats seem to think they will be immune from all of this because they foolishly believe these newcomers will view them as benefactors.

… Once you open the castle gates and lower the drawbridge, you no longer control the outcome. Indeed, you have surrendered it. And why are Democrats willing to do that? Because they hate Americans more than this still ill-defined rabble, and they don’t understand what’s coming. These people are tougher than you, and they don’t give a damn about you. Be careful how you vote. The future you hope for will be, I promise, very different from the rosy one media promises you.

I don't know if "tougher" is the right word--perhaps "callous" or "indifferent" or "amoral" or "less squeamish" would be better terms. Unfortunately, as the result of spineless and greedy men and women, we now live in tough times, and it will require a ruthlessness to get us back to good times.
