VIDEO: Test of Russian Body Armor

The producer of this video asks the question of whether 6B43 "Granit" Ratnik GOST 6A Russian body armor can stop U.S. military ammo and the answer is "yes". In fact, it stopped everything but old M2 AP loaded to what the producer termed "+P+" out of a .300 Win. Mag (velocity ~3,200 fps). Even the newer M80A1 projectile, also loaded to +P+ out of a .300 Win. Mag. was stopped although it was running about 300 fps faster than the aforementioned M2 AP load. This leads me to suspect that the new M7 rifle will also not be able to penetrate the Russian body armor as it is supposed to have a muzzle velocity of 3,000 fps out of the 16-inch barrel to be used by the M7. It will probably be using about the same bullet design as the M80A1; and although the longer bullet should give it better penetration than the .308 equivalent, I doubt it will be the equivalent of the extra 500 fps enjoyed by the M80A1 projectile used in this test.

On the other hand, as we've seen in Ukraine, the Russian military has developed a lot of cool stuff that obviously isn't making its way to its troops. So perhaps the odds that Russian troops will have access to this armor is low.
