Rev. 17:16 And The Protests Against Israel

We are seeing quite the fight amongst powerful factions on the political Left*:

• "100,000 Protest Against Israel in London as Antifa and Islamic Flags Fly"--Breitbart.
• "Report: Dave Chappelle Goes on Pro-Palestinian Rant; Cheers of 'Free Palestine'; Jews Leave"--Breibart.
• "Some Muslim Americans furious at Biden in Michigan, a key swing state"--NBC News.
• "Thousands of NYC protesters demand eradication of Israel"--New York Post.
• "Sarah Silverman slammed for endorsing Israeli move to shut off Gaza's water, electricity"--New York Post.
• "Hollywood was founded by Jews. But it ignores Hamas' pogroms"--New York Post.
• "Coca-Cola quietly deletes language supporting BLM after Ted Cruz calls out pro-Hamas post"--Yahoo.

In fact, so bad is it that some Jews are having to re-evaluate their stance on firearms and politics more generally. See, e.g.:

    Revelation Chapters 17 and 18 are famous passages because they deal with the destruction of the Mystery Babylon, or the Great Harlot, who is described as "that great city, which reigneth over the kings of the earth." (Rev. 17:18). The Harlot rides a scarlet beast with seven heads which is apparently a revival of an Empire that has prosecuted the Lord's peoples where each head represents a king--5 fallen, one is (presumably meaning when John had his vision), and one to come, and then the beast which represents an eighth king. (See Rev. 17:10-11). The current thinking is that the last two kings represent Muslim empires: the Ottoman Empire (or Islam, more generally) and the future Anti-Christ empire.

    The heads of the beast have 10 horns. Interestingly, however, the Harlot is not destroyed by the Lord, but rather, "the ten horns which thou sawest upon the beast, these shall hate the whore, and shall make her desolate and naked, and shall eat her flesh, and burn her with fire." (Rev. 17:16). In other words, her erstwhile allies (or subjects) destroy her. In a way, one could say that Mystery Babylon created a monster and then learned the hard way that she could not control what she had created. This is like what we are seeing now between Jews and others on the Left. (See "Liberal Jews Thought Progressives Were An Ally, They Thought Wrong"--Legal Insurrection).

I have to say that even a few years ago I was on board with Joel Richardson's theory that Mystery Babylon was going to be a Muslim city, part of the Muslim Anti-Christ empire. But I not so sure anymore, as I've been leaning toward Jerusalem as the Great Harlot. This is because of several things including reading a book by Chris White called Mystery Babylon - When Jerusalem Embraces The Antichrist: An Exposition of Revelation 18 and 19 which raises some good arguments why the latter-day Babylon may actually be Jerusalem. In is notable that in Revelation, the angel goes on to tell John that "in her was found the blood of prophets, and of saints, and of all that were slain upon the earth." (Rev. 18:24). Jerusalem is also described elsewhere in the Bible as a city where the prophets have been slain, so it appears this verse is in reference to Jerusalem--at least, it is a better candidate than others. 

    Richardson's greatest argument against Jerusalem being Mystery Babylon is that it is not a major financial center like New York, London, or Hong Kong. But while that may be correct right now, that doesn't mean that it won't be in another 20, 30, or 40 years. He also argues that Jerusalem cannot be Babylon because certain scriptural passages place it (Babylon) near the sea. However, when I look at a map of Jerusalem, it isn't all that far from a sea in either direction (Mediterranean or Dead Sea). Finally, he argues that Jerusalem cannot be Mystery Babylon because the Jews are the chosen people of the Lord. But that seems irrelevant as, whether they are chosen or not, they can still sin. Witness George Soros, Weinstein, Epstein, etc. And they can still persecute Christians. (See my post on how the Holocaust and Cultural Marxism provide grounds for a future persecution of Christians). 

     While I don't see the current split between the Jewish Left and other groups on the Left as fulfilling Revelation 17-18, it is a type of what is to come. Even if I'm wrong and Jerusalem is not Mystery Babylon, the current situation provides a good illustration of how quickly a monster can turn on its creator.

* I include Jews among the Left because a super-majority (70% or more) of American Jews identify as liberal and reliably vote Democrat. The exception to this are Orthodox Jews which just as reliably vote Republican. See, e.g.:

Moreover, as I discussed here, Jews historically have been grossly overrepresented among Marxist groups and movements.
