VIDEO: The Updated Holey Hiker Bidet

The Holey Hiker Bidet is essentially a perforated cap to put on a water bottle that allows you to squeeze the bottle to eject a shower of water to use as a bidet or a very quick shower to quickly wash off sweat and grim before diving into your sleeping bag. Intended for hikers or campers, I can see it also having use as an emergency prep, especially if toilet paper is in short supply. The original product was 3D printed by the inventor, but the new and improved version is manufactured using injection molded plastic which makes it both lighter and stronger according to the video.

  1. Wow, talk about over thinking things. Get a spare bottle cap and drill a few holes in it. Done, its free and works, heck you can do it with a knife or the awl on a swish army knife if you’re on the trail. I never got buying that things you could make in two minutes from stuff you have lying around.

    1. You're correct if you have the right type of cap and always use the same bottle/brand, but for people like me that buy the bulk water bottles at Costco modifying a cap probably won't work. The three main advantages to this device appears to be (1) its portability from one bottle type/manufacturer to another because it inserts into the neck of the bottle rather than using the threads on the bottle; (2) if you still have water in the bottle after you finish, you can remove the device and replace the regular lid on the bottle so the water does not leak out; and (3) that it squirts out the side rather than the top so your hand is not immediately below where you are cleaning. A lot of water bottle caps sit low enough that you could not cut or drill holes into the side and have it work (and I say that looking at the water bottle sitting on my desk at the moment).
