Sometimes Violence Is The Answer

In poking about the web recently, I came across a 2017 post from Rory Miller at his Chiron blog noting that he had recently been contacted by an unnamed institution asking him to provide "comprehensive self-defense training but with absolutely no element of violence." Impossible, Miller wrote. While conceding that the largest gains in self-defense training come from learning how to avoid violence, he also points out:
There are people who enjoy hurting others, and only force or the threat of force will stop them. Predators who can't feel closure without pain. Really bad guys who need to see someone break. People who honestly believe that acceding to a verbal solution is an act of cowardice.
