ATF Nominee Says The Right Things

Guns.com reports on Kenneth Charles “Chuck” Canterbury, Jr., President Trump’s nominee for Director of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, performance during a round of hearings in front of the Senate Judiciary Committee earlier this week. Canterbury seems to say all the right things. He is (was?) the president of the Fraternal Order of Police (FOP). Although the FOP supported the '94 assault weapons ban, Canterbury says that he did not support the ban at the time, and that the organization does not support similar measures today. His reasoning was because the law was ineffective. Canterbury also voiced opposition to expanding background checks to private transfers, and more generally indicated that he was opposed to further expanding gun regulations.
