Corroding Fire Steels and Ferrocerium Rods

FerFal warns that fire steels/ferrocerium rods can corrode and disintegrate due to exposure to moisture, salt, or other corrosives. He recommends checking your rod and carrying a backup or alternative fire starting tool.
