Documentary On The Krakatoa Explosion of 535 A.D.

Researchers cataloging tree rings noted something peculiar about data from 535 and 536 A.D.--there was hardly any tree ring growth, indicating that something happened to inhibit growth, most likely severe cold. As they investigated contemporary records from that time, they learned that there were records of the Sun being dimmed, cold temperature and poor crops, and the resulting social upheaval that follows such events. Further research revealed that the culprit was likely a massive explosion of the Krakatoa volcano--much bigger than Krakatoa's 1883 explosion and probably even larger than the 1815 Tambora explosion that ushered in the "year without a summer."
