6-Reasons Why You Need a 30-Round Magazine

Liberals--especially those with security guards--like to tell us there is no reason for 30-round magazines in a rifle. In fact, as New York and other states inform us, there is no need for more than 7 or 10 rounds. Well, here are six-reasons why you need a gun with more than 7 or 10 rounds:

Police arrested six people believed to be involved in what they're calling one of the most brutal crimes in recent memory.

Madison police say three men planned a home invasion, but broke into the wrong home on Quincy Avenue on the north side around 6 a.m. on February 23. Police say the suspects were aware it was not the intended home, but they proceeded to violently attack the two victims who had been sleeping. The suspects are accused of repeatedly sexually assaulting the woman who was six months pregnant.
The attack lasted 45-minutes, until the attackers left.

The Truth About Firearms Blog, in posting about this attack, noted that the vaunted New York Police Department has a 27% hit ratio. Thus, assuming the same accuracy as highly trained police, in order to strike each attacker once, a defender would have needed to fire over 22 rounds (22.2). Of course, most attackers don't easily go down, so even assuming only 2 shots each, it would have required 45 rounds of ammunition.

Someone might argue that you wouldn't have needed to shoot all of the attackers before they abandoned their nefarious schemes. However, again assuming a 27% hit ratio, you would have needed 4 rounds just to hit a single attacker just once; 8 rounds to strike just two of the attackers once. With two attackers, you have already exceeded the New York magazine limit, and that is assuming that you are as good as the NYPD's highly trained officers.
