VIDEO: AR Magazines - Overview and Performance

The Modern Tactical Shooting channel has a couple videos discussing polymer and metal magazines, respectively, for the AR-15 platform from his perspective as a special forces soldier using them in combat as well as subsequent experience using them as a civilian.

The video on polymer magazines is essentially the history of the polymer magazines from his perspective--when he started purchasing or trying them out--and the good and bad of each. Short take, however, is that the magazines he mostly used in special forces and continues to use are the Magpul Gen 2 magazines.

The video on the metal magazines is more his experience with the GI issued magazines he received in the military. Interestingly, he notes that the primary reason for an anti-tilt follower is for full-auto fire, suggesting that they aren't really needed for semi-auto. Of the metal magazines he used in the military, he really liked the HK steel magazines finding that they were slightly more reliable than the aluminum; but the downside was that they were more likely to dent than the aluminum mags and weigh more. He doesn't think the tradeoffs are worth using steel over aluminum, however. He also discusses the benefit of using a Magpul follower in the metal magazines, as well as other accessories.
