NPR reports that "[t]he National Park Service is planning to restore and reinstall a statue of Albert Pike, a Confederate general and Freemason leader, that was toppled during Black Lives Matter protests in June 2020." The statue is being restored pursuant to an executive order from President Trump "to beautify the nation's capital and re-instate pre-existing statues." But, the article adds, "Congresswoman Eleanor Holmes Norton, who represents Washington D.C., said in a statement she would reintroduce a bill to permanently remove the statue." Good luck with that.
We should erect statues that would be offensive, on purpose, to BLM. Make them out of polonium.
ReplyDeleteAt a minimum, the BLM statues, murals, etc., should come down.
DeleteThe Charlottesville Robert E. Lee statue that was melted down needs to be recreated and replaced.
