The Coastal Marten Not Extinct?

CBS News reports that trail cams have captured the image of a coastal marten (aka Humboldt marten), which scientists were concerned had gone extinct. According to the article, "[o]nly four isolated populations of the species still exist, according to the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service. Two colonies live in northwestern California. Another two live in western Oregon." Of course, if I were to approach this from the same perspective as evaluating evidence of Big Foot, I would have to conclude that the photograph was just a ferret dressed up in a fake suit.

Lol :) One of the many hypocrisies of the biologist community.

    1. I would have more faith in scientists if they followed the scientific method. But there seems to be a low bar for what constitutes evidence when it supports the scientific consensus versus when it challenges the consensus even though the quality of the evidence is the same or better. For instance, the evidence for the Younger Dryas Impact Event, where the evidence for it is of a much higher quality and quantity than those who dispute it, but those who dispute it control the "consensus" so their evidence is accepted no matter how poor it is.
