Just a reminder that Greg Ellifritz at Active Response Training published his Weekend Knowledge Dump each Friday. In this week's edition, he includes (among others):
- An account from “Bendigo Strange” of rescuing a runaway girl from a pimp (an excellent read);
- An article from Pistol-Training.com where the author explains his reasoning for selecting the different handguns he uses for self-defense;
- An article from Lucky Gunner on myths of the defensive revolver including the infamous "6 is enough if you know how to shoot";
- An article by Matt Larsen giving a brief introduction on his theory of violence and how we respond to it, and contrasting it to those from Dave Grossman and David Buss;
- A piece on the defensive carbine and developing your skills with one;
- A review of Federal's new 20 gauge defensive load making use of their Flite Control wad; and,
- A good overview of the .38 S&W cartridge, both it's history and development. One thing I would add is do not shoot the .38/200 (a military and police loading developed by the British in the 1930s) out of a .38 S&W not specifically designed to use the .38/200 loading. The .38/200 is much longer than the standard .38 S&W load and, I believe, operates at higher pressures.
Indeed an excellent read. Thanks.
