POTD: Abandoned Soviet-Era Ground Effects Vehicle

 

Source: "The sea monster: Gigantic 1980s Soviet vehicle MD-160 that dwarfs a Boeing 747 lies abandoned in the Caspian Sea where it will be converted into a museum"--Daily Mail. The idea with  ground effect vehicles is that they would be able to ride at some low elevation above a flat surface (such as the sea) at far higher speeds than ships, but with greater fuel efficiency than aircraft.
