A few weeks ago, I took my R51 pistol and a Glock out for some practice, to use some lower power loads I had hand loaded for practice. The R51 was having a bit of a problem with those loads, but worked fine with some factory +P loads. (To be fair, the Glock was cycling the low power loads, but not kicking the brass out very hard--in fact, some of the brass was falling back onto the firearm). So, too soft of loads.
In any event, I decided that it was probably a good time to clean the R51. I decided to use Frog Lube for lubrication this time, paying especial attention to the breach block. It worked flawlessly, even with the last of the anemic handloads.
Lesson learned. The R51 needs to be run wet, just like an AR.
