The Financial Times reports that British roboticists have developed a robot that is capable of handling unfamiliar objects. They expect that by next spring, it will be able to load a dishwasher.
Meanwhile, Japan pushes ahead with creating a robot revolution to compensate for its declining number of workers.
If you think that past advances in manufacturing in the late 19th Century and early 20th Century, or the advent of automation in the 1960's and 1970's were disruptive of labor markets, you ain't seen nuthin' yet.
