Rifleshooter Posts Velocity and Drop Data for the .308

Rifleshooter has posted data for velocity and drop from different length barrels for the .308. The lengths tested ranged from 16.5 inches to 28 inches, with 1 inch increments between 17 and 28 inches. There isn't a sudden drop in performance as in his earlier test with the .223, but it falls off rather predictably. It appears that for long-range shooting, you would probably want a barrel of 24 inches, which would maintain 1,000 fps velocity out to 1250 yards with the various loads that he tried. However, from my read of the data, there is very little difference between the various barrel lengths even at distances of 750 yards.
