The Pentagon has confirmed that the Arleigh Burke-class guided-missile destroyer USS Carney and several commercial vessels had been attacked in Red Sea. The attack reportedly began about 10 a.m. in Sanaa, Yemen, and had gone on for at least 5 hours. Houthi rebels have claimed responsibility. This follows an incident a week earlier where missiles were apparently fired toward a U.S. destroyer, the U.S.S. Mason, after it had responded to a distress call from a tanker carrying phosphoric acid which was the subject of a hijacking attempt.
