John Wilder at Wilder, Wealthy & Wise has published the January 2025 edition of his Civil War 2.0 Weather report, with this month's edition subtitle the "Misery Edition". One of the topics--perhaps the key topic--in this month's report is what Peter Turchin termed "popular immiseration" which is just a fancy term for widespread economic impoverishment and misery. He points to two specific incidents that hint at public discontent tied to economic factors: the murder of the UnitedHealthcare CEO (apparently the result of their having the highest claim rejection rate in the industry) and the fight that abruptly arose over the H-1B visa program when both Musk and Trump started stumping in favor of expanding the number of visas issued.
Anyhow, John covers a bunch of other topics as well, so be sure to read the whole thing.
