Immigration Blues

The Washington Post claims “a million foreign-born workers have exited the workforce since March.” The Post frames this as “a sign of the weakening labor supply.” Yet the paper also notes, “Average hourly wages accelerated, rising by 0.4 percent over the month, to $36.24 in May, as earnings continue to beat inflation in a boost to workers’ spending power.”

In other words, with fewer illegal immigrants, businesses have had to raise wages to attract workers.

But aliens will only leave if they believe Trump and Homan are serious about arrests, and employers know the feds are targeting shady businesses.

  • "Inside Trump's backtrack on immigration"--Axios. Under pressure from the agriculture and hospitality industries, the Trump Administration is allegedly going to ease up on immigration enforcement for those sectors.

Agriculture Secretary Brooke Rollins called Trump to say farm groups were increasingly concerned that the stepped-up immigration raids would lead many reliable workers to be arrested — or stop showing up for work, out of fear.

Later Thursday, Tatum King, a senior ICE official, sent an email to agency officials nationwide, telling them to "please hold on all worksite enforcement investigations/operations on agriculture (including aquaculture and meatpacking plants), restaurants, and operating hotels."

President Donald Trump ordered a new blitz on Democrat cities which which will see huge numbers of illegal immigrants rounded up for the 'largest mass deportation in history.'

In the president's new surge even more ICE agents will flood some of America's biggest population centers, including Los Angeles, Chicago and New York.

It represents a massive escalation and comes after days of violent anti-ICE protests nationwide against Trump's tough immigration policies.

On Tuesday, the U.S. House, with the support of a majority of Republicans, voted 266-148 to overturn a law in Washington, D.C., that permits non-citizens to vote in local elections. This move came despite critically importent opposition from House Democrats, with only 56 members from their party supporting the bill. The bill previously faced roadblocks in the Democrat-controlled Senate, but it may have a better chance with the current Republican majority.
