A Quick Run Around the Web--January 7, 2015

Just one entry for today:

  • "Regarding the events of January 5, 2015"--Stuff from Hsoi (H/t Bayou Renaissance Man). The author describes a violent home invasion by what turned out to be a very large, mentally disturbed man, and the subsequent self-defense shooting. The author gives a fairly detailed account of the events leading up to the shooting, his personal perspective/knowledge of facts at the time of the event, and a bit about the aftermath. He also discusses a bit why he did not consider attempting going toe-to-toe with the burglar (the perpetrator violently broke through the door of a house, which was occupied, early in the morning--i.e., nighttime--with what appeared to be the intent to commit a felony, so this seems to count as a burglary in the common law, traditional sense of the term).

    1. I would instead thank you for sharing your experience with the public, especially with details that generally never get into a media report. I think your story is useful for anyone thinking of using a firearm for self-defense.
