"Thy Kingdom Come"

Christ gave us an example of prayer ("The Lord's Prayer") in Matthew 6:9-13:
9 After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name.
10 Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven.
11 Give us this day our daily bread.
12 And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors.
13 And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.
On a basic level, Christ teaches us in our prayers to glorify the Father and submit our will to Him (often we can do this by offering thanks for our blessings and trials); and to ask for blessings for matters not only spiritual, but also temporal ("Give us this day our daily bread."). However, Christ also sets out specific things for which we should pray.

We are in the last days, yet how many of us pray "Thy kingdom come"? This is not an idle statement in the prayer, nor is it a way of restating the following line of "Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven." Rather, it is an explicit instruction to, in essence, pray for Christ's return and the establishment of His Kingdom on the Earth. Only then will the Lord's will be truly done on the Earth as in Heaven.
