So, going through Hurricane Ike in Houston, our power went down. The cell phone towers were up, but overloaded. The only real communication we had was an old clockspring Baygen radio. We listened to the local stations for news. FEMA came on periodically, and told us that we could find all the information we needed on FEMA.gov. Yes. Talking to a city where 90%+ of people had no power, they told us to go to the Internet.
ReplyDeleteIt amazes me how dependent we were expected to be on something that is fundamentally complex and subject to disruption in a crisis of regional proportion. If you need supplies, if you need to be prepared, the best advice is to prepare far in advance of the crisis. Build the ark while the Sun is shining.
