A Monday Medley of Videos

There have been a lot of articles and videos about the so-called "change" to the definition of a pistol. I just picked this video at random from my feed as an example. Articles with a similar tenor include Adam Kraut's article, "Measuring the Overall Length of a Pistol? ATF has Altered the Deal," at Recoil, and Herschel's article, "ATF Rescinds Prior Method To Measure A Firearm’s Overall Length When Equipped With A Stabilizing Brace" at The Captain's Journal. The issue is that the ATF has released a letter stating that a pistol equipped with a folding arm brace will have its length measured with the brace in its folded position.  Why does this matter? Because apparently a pistol over a certain length can use a vertical foregrip. Will it matter to the majority of people? No. If you have an AR pistol with a buffer tube, you probably don't have a folding arm brace. Even most AK style pistols or other weapons with arm braces don't have folding arm braces. In addition, the "common knowledge" just last week, even if not completely correct, was that no pistol could sport a vertical foregrip (but angled foregrips or hand stops were okay). So, most people that have a foregrip on their pistol probably haven't been running it with a vertical foregrip in any case.

In order to keep the French naval fleet from falling into Nazi hands, the British attack the French fleet moored in North Africa, killing 1297 French sailors.

Penetration was "iffy" against a wall made of cinder blocks -- and this was an incorrectly made wall, lacking the concrete that is normally poured inside. Although there was spalling and limited penetration into the gelatin,  it was so minimal that I would guess that heavy clothing would have stopped any damage. But it is a good reminder to wear eye-protection if you think someone will be shooting at you through a cinder block wall. The standard wall with one layer brick vaneer stopped everything, so the host did not even try to shoot through the brick backed by concrete block.

I'd always figured that PBS's "overpriced old crap" show (aka, "Antiques Roadshow") was the primary mover behind the increase in old firearms. Because if it's old so it has to be worth a lot, don't you know? But the host of this video, who sells mil-surplus, relates that Sandy Hook and the reaction among gun buyers and wholesalers is what made old, but common, military firearms shoot up in price.

"Off Duty MP Draws From The Drop"--Active Self Protection (6 min.)
Another video showing that pulling a trigger is faster than trying to draw a weapon from a concealed holster.

"I Quit. They Won"--Red Ice TV (13 min.)
The host describes all she suffers for her conservative beliefs, but (spoiler alert!) she is still going to fight against the Left.
