Weekend Reading -- A New Weekend Knowledge Dump
Greg Ellifritz has posted a new Weekend Knowledge Dump at his Active Response Training blog . Before I discuss some of his links, I want to ...
Good article. This is why I like to participate in GORUCK. It's a nice gut check to ensure I'm capable of carrying heavier loads for time and distance. And, it's fun!
ReplyDeleteFun for you, but my gut check (yes, still larger than it should be) tells me that I would probably be sucking air through most of it. I checked the GoRuck website and I have to say that looks tough. I assume that you are probably using the 40 lbs. weighted pack. My hat is off to you for making it through something that grueling.
DeleteActually, the Light events are doable if you put some time in to get ready for it. I think my pack was max 27ish lbs. That's including 100 oz of water (6.5 lbs). My most recent Light event lasted about 4 and half hours or so.
DeleteThe Challenge event was about 35 lbs. I haven't tried the Heavy yet (over 24 hours!). Your pack must be 35 lbs. dry for that.
What pack do you use?
DeleteI've had good luck with Tactical Tailors bags. Specifically, the "assault" size pack that is part of their modular system. GORUCKs bags are awesome but pricey. If I had the scratch, then I'd consider it.
