The Administration's Goal is to Destroy the Economy

From Politico, a report on Congressional testimony given by Energy Secretary, Steven Chu:
High gasoline prices will make research into such alternatives more urgent, Chu said.

“But is the overall goal to get our price” of gasoline down, asked Nunnelee.

“No, the overall goal is to decrease our dependency on oil, to build and strengthen our economy,” Chu replied. “We think that if you consider all these energy policies, including energy efficiency, we think that we can go a long way to becoming less dependent on oil and [diversifying] our supply and we’ll help the American economy and the American consumers.”
So, in a time of recession, where most Americans are suffering stagflation, and our manufacturing sector has been completely gutted and exported to China, the Administration is following a policy designed to increase one of the biggest cost inputs to the manufacturing process, and one of the biggest costs to American consumers--the price of energy. Apparently, it requires something less than a degree from an Ivy League school to see where this is headed.
