CA Man Arrested After Killing Burglar

From the New York Post: "Elderly homeowner arrested after fatally shooting California burglary suspect, cops say." The article indicates that there were three burglars that entered the man's property: one carrying (armed with) a crowbar and another had a replica pistol. A third burglar--a woman--apparently was unarmed. The homeowner shot the man with the crowbar, who stumbled outside and soon reached room temperature despite efforts of emergency personnel. The man with the replica pistol was later arrested on suspicion of burglary; it is not clear if the woman was arrested.

"When police arrived at the scene," the article relates, "they found the homeowner pointing a stolen Colt Python revolver at the female suspect, who told police he had shot her male friend, according to court documents reviewed by the station." The homeowner was arrested on suspicion of murder, but had not yet been charged by prosecutors. "According to KTVU," the article adds, "the homeowner declined to speak with investigators regarding the case."

    1. I could see the prosecutor being nervous about his best witnesses being two burglars, one of them carrying what was intended to look like an actual firearm.
