CIA To Go After Drug Cartels?

From Breitbart: "CIA Deputy Director Michael Ellis: CIA to Create a ‘Finely Tuned Machine’ to Destroy the Cartels." The CIA has long been in bed with drug traffickers, smugglers, and other criminal organizations. It is an unfortunate aspect of both police and intelligence work that police and spies sometimes have to work with or obtain assistance from criminals, crime organizations and sleazy politicians (both here and abroad). But there have long been conspiracy theories that the CIA has been complicit in the drug trade as a means of funding stretching back as far as Vietnam. There are even a couple Wikipedia articles on the topic:

Thus, it will be interesting to see how effective is the CIA at destroying the cartels and reducing the importation of drugs into the United States. Perhaps it will be different this time around because the cartels have aligned with China.
