Sheriff Jim Wilson: "Playing The Averages"

Wilson writes at Shooting Illustrated about averages and gun fights. Although there is no repository of civilian involved gun fights similar to the statistics that the FBI keeps on gun fights involving law enforcement, Wilson believes that the 3-3-3 rule (3 shots at 3 yards in 3 seconds) is probably correct when it comes to the "average" civilian defensive shooting. He cautions, however, that we might want to make sure we are prepared for the atypical defensive shooting at longer ranges and more rounds fired (although I think we also need to be prepared for the atypical close up range as well).
