Some Inconvenient Facts

An article at PJ Media, entitled "Record Cold Forces Rethink on Global Warming," cites a quote from English biologist Thomas Huxley from over a century ago: "The great tragedy of science -- the slaying of a beautiful hypothesis by an ugly fact." So, lets look at some of what is going on:

• "One of the coldest spells in HISTORY wreaks havoc across the Midwest where rail tracks are set alight to keep trains moving and people are warned to 'avoid taking deep breaths' in -70 wind chill"--Daily Mail. The article indicates that "Plummeting temperatures in Chicago have forecasters predicting that the city will be colder than parts of Alaska, the North Pole and Antarctica," and that the cold will only get worse as the week continues.
• "‘It Is Getting Cold, Fast’: Thousands In Twin Cities Lost Power In Dangerous Cold"--CBS Minnesota. At the peak of the outage, 8,000 residents were affected. Do you have a backup heating plan? I have a fireplace and large kerosene heater ... and I've had to use them in the past when our furnace went down or we've lost power during the winter. 
• "USPS suspends mail delivery in NINE states as a deadly deep freeze hits the Midwest and officials warn the extreme temperatures pose a life-threatening public health risk"--Daily Mail.
