• Be careful of alarm company scams. We had a man stop by our house yesterday claiming that our security alarm account had been transfered to Brinks, and that he needed to inspect the system. My wife, of course, told him to bugger off and called our alarm company to report it. Unfortunately, this seems to happen once or twice a year, anymore. I don't know if these are people just trying to get a look at the alarm system and inside of the house with the intent of a future robbery, or just a scam to get us to switch alarm companies. However, be careful of anyone coming to your door with similar claims; if you are not sure, just get a business card from the person, and don't let them in until you've had a chance to check with your alarm company.
• "Homogenous copper bullets can be inhumane"--Terminal Ballistics Research. The author explains:

       Traditional lead core bullets offer optimum performance in that at mild to low impact velocities, the bullet sheds weight. This weight loss helps increase the size of the internal wound. In other words, it is possible to retain a wound channel that is between 1.5 and 3” in diameter, regardless of the impact velocity. A premium (including core bonded) bullet may lose 25% of its weight while other designs may lose up to 50% or more weight. Some weight is retained for penetration while some weight is shed which ensures very wide wounding for fast humane killing. 

       The current copper bullets that are being pushed by various environmental organizations cannot achieve this type of wounding. These bullets do not shed weight (though some custom designs shed petals with limited effect). The trouble is, if the hunter does not strike the animal perfectly or does not have very high impact velocities on his side, there is a high risk of slow killing. In some cases, it may take days for animals to die. While it may seem that copper is the environmentally friendly choice, I would urge you to consider these facts that have not been explored in an open fashion.

• I recently came across a reference to ammunition referred to as the .44 XL in a 1923 Sears catalog. Apparently, this was a precursor to the modern .410, using shot loaded in .44 brass casings.

• Still not enough: "Outgunned: America is home to more guns than people and has the highest concentration of privately owned firearms in the world, data shows"--Daily Mail. The article reports that "America is home to 393.3 million civilian-owned guns and has a population of 316.5 million, amounting to 120.5 firearms per 100 people, according to a report by Small Arms Survey, a Geneva-based think tank." The article claims that 69 percent of Americans do not own guns, but that 2/3 of gun owners own more than one gun. I would never admit to a pollster that I owned guns. Just sayin'.
• "Pain"-- Straightforward In A Crooked World. The author relates a discussion with a professional car thief who was very successful using a large bore revolver to intimidate victims until one day it didn't and he was shot through the throat with a .22 Derringer. Obviously the robber didn't die, but his focus did shift from his victim to his own survival. The author uses this to segue into a discussion about the impact of pain and injury on an attacker. He concludes:

       We should never underestimate an attacker. Ever. A fight for your life is that. A-fight-for-your-life. 

       However, it should be that. 

       A fight. 

       Your attacker should have no misgivings once the dance has started. His life is in just as much jeopardy as yours and, if applied with enough intent from you, his being more so.There are no damage proof super-villains in the world. The PCP laden attacker that soaks up cylinder after cylinder of 357 Magnum is the stuff myths are made of.

        Unfortunately, statistics and theories have come to over-ride the discussions to the point of becoming gospel instead of what happens in the reality. Disregarding the physical and mental impact of how one or, if properly applied, multiple gunshot wounds affect the outcome of a gunfight is a mistake. There is only one guarantee in a gunfight and, that is violence of action will occur, but continual application of a proper mind set, training and practice will do much to win the day.

• "Ebola outbreak in Congo spreads to new city"--The Hill. From the article:

       An outbreak of the deadly Ebola virus in two eastern provinces of Congo has spread to a major international trading hub with almost a million residents, Congolese health officials said Wednesday. 

       Health officials in Butembo, a city with close links to neighboring Uganda, said they had confirmed that a man who died at Butembo University Hospital had tested positive for the virus. 

       The Congolese health ministry said the man had contact with an Ebola patient in Beni, a city about 25 miles north of Butembo where almost two dozen Ebola victims have been identified, before fleeing south.

• A restraining order is no match for a good blaster at your side, kid: "Former teacher and stalker ex-girlfriend, 39, 'shoots her surgeon ex, 60, five times before killing herself in frenzied attack hours after he was granted a restraining order'"--Daily Mail.

"Deadly Earthquake, Planets Tilt, Special Report | S0 News Sep.6.2018'--Suspicious Observers (4-1/2 min). What I wanted to draw your attention to is the discussion on solar forcing at starting at the 2:10 mark (the link should put you there).

• "How eight elite San Francisco families funded Gavin Newsom’s political ascent"--Los Angeles Times. According to the article, Newsom was selected very early in his career (perhaps earlier) and groomed and supported as he worked through different political positions. All so these families could control the politics behind the scene. Or, as the article explains:

        They are not Newsom’s largest donors: The families in total have given about $2 million of the $61 million that donors have contributed to his campaigns and independent committees backing those bids. But they gave while he was a relative unknown, providing crucial support to a political newcomer in the years before his campaign accounts piled high with cash from labor unions, Hollywood honchos, tech billionaires and donors up and down the state.

        Now the families appear poised to see their investments pay off.

Most of the support and mentoring came from the Getty family, which, according to the article, viewed him as a son, "according to interviews the couple gave to the San Francisco Chronicle and W Magazine, and they provided him with experiences his parents could not afford, including an African safari when he was a teen." Other families are the Fishers, the Marcuses, the Pritzkers, the Swigs, the Buells,  the Trainas and Wilseys, and the Guggenhimes. This is the type of reporting we need: collecting names and showing the links.

• David Codrea warns that our gun rights are at risk because "[t]he left is very close to having a governing majority due entirely to immigration." 
• What we are importing: "Mexico violence: Remains of 166 found in Veracruz mass grave"--BBC. Last year, 250 skulls were found in a mass grave near to this one.
• "25 STRAIGHT MINUTES OF ILLEGAL ALIENS CROSSING INTO US THROUGH ARIZONA RANCH"--The Daily Caller. Arizona rancher John Chilton, whose 50,000 acre ranch sits on the border, has video "show[ing] an unrelenting stream of alleged cartel scouts, drug mules and human smugglers — known as coyotes — using secret trails to work their way into the interior of the state. Many of the trespassers tote long guns and sport military-style camouflage, posing a threat Chilton knows from firsthand experience."

Per the article, the Red Guards Austin manifesto calls for "the formation of paramilitary organizations on two levels. The first being those who are mainly unarmed but are prepared and trained to carry out fist fighting or using blunt weapons like axe handles or flagpoles as well as shields and basic armoring. The second level is the more advanced embryo of a Red Army, which is trained militarily and operates as soldiers all the time, engaging in production and mass work among the proletariat and the oppressed nation’s people."
• The Gods of the copybook headings are about to visit South Africa: "South Africa in Recession After Land Threat: ‘Shocking Drop in Agriculture’"--Breitbart. The primary reason for the decline in GDP was due to "a sharp contraction in the agricultural sector, which has been under political assault this year as the ruling African National Congress has pledged 'expropriation without compensation.'"
