Haiti Turns To Cannibalism

The British tabloid, The Daily Star, reported this weekend: "Haiti cannibal gang are 'eating people they've killed' on the streets as violence erupts." Key part: "Describing the violence in the country, a journalist said that cannibalism has been witnessed on the streets as the violence reaches 'unprecedented' levels, reports the Express US. Speaking anonymously, they said: 'Haiti is living in a total chaotic situation right now. It is total chaos everywhere, especially in the capital where I am right now.'" The anonymous reporter added:

"Haiti has a leader, Prime Minister Ariel Henry, but he is not inside the country right now. In the meantime you have gangs waging full attacks on key institutions.

"You also have attacks on police stations. The officers were in there for three hours crying for help, and after that, we saw images of officers being cut by machetes being shared on social media. The gangs are heavily armed with guns from the US, but they are also equipped with high-level technology like drones.

"The level of violence is unprecedented. The gangs seemingly want to kill as many people as they can. They are in a fear campaign where they want to appear as murderous and as violent as possible."

After the interview, the journalist sent a message reading: "Cannibalism is not widespread, but definitely an indication of the worsening situation. It definitely happens on a few occasions."

It wouldn't surprise me as we've seen instances of victorious fighters in some of the civil wars in Africa engage in cannibalism, whether as a form of ritual, to terrorize, or to demonstrate prowess.

I wonder who are providing the arms and drones. The State Department indicates that "Haiti remains a transit point for cocaine originating in South America and marijuana originating in Jamaica.

More:

Meanwhile, Haiti’s power vacuum may be filled by a man who was recently released from a U.S. prison for drug trafficking.

His name is Guy Philippe, a former Haitian police commander who 20 years ago led a coup that overthrew another Haitian government. Dupin says Philippe’s now proposing himself as the transitional head of state — and he has support: from the gangs, because he too wants to remove Henry; and from many Haitians, because he's pledged to restore public security.

“Prime Minister Ariel Henry’s been nearly three years in power and he didn’t do anything really, either to restore security or hold new elections," Dupin said. "So Guy Philippe has a lot of sympathy.”

  1. Hey, I know, let's bring those Haitian gang members to the US as "refugees". I'm sure that a voter-ID card will turn them into productive upstanding citizens.

And, how does the journalist know the guns the gangs are using came from the US? The guns pictured in the article are not US designs.

    1. The article is from a British paper and the Brits think all Americans are deplorables. Both the photograph at the top of the article and the one further down, showing a police officer, show HK designs. Based on the curved magazine, the police officer appears to have an HK33 or some variant in 5.56mm. The photo at the top of the page showing the SOF guy in the shemagh with the earpros is a little more interesting. He is using what is colloquially called an HK 51--a 7.62x51 G3 or HK91 with an 8 or 9 inch barrel. I say "colloquially" because I don't believe that HK ever made it (someone please correct me if I'm wrong) although it appears that there were some full auto ones floating around. Vector Arms of Utah had at one time made an SBR version called the V51, and PTR makes a pistol version called the PTR 51P. Either way, its been tricked out with a collapsible stock, new fore end with rails, and a red dot optic. The ear protection is required as it is my understanding that it is quite loud.

  2. I've seen pic of US designed weapons, and I immediately thought of "Fast and Furious" Eric Holder/Obammy gun running. Don't think the CIA isn't here?

  3. The guns came out of a shipment marked "Clinton/Bush Initiative"

  4. "Sink the boats".

That would be a start and absolutely should be a matter of uncompromisable policy, but Haiti is, and has been for so long, such a completely unmanageable and unredeemable shithole that nuking it to put it out of everyone else's misery would be an entirely justifiable humantarian action.

Unfortunately, the Dominican Republic is downwind in the fallout zone, but there may be an argument for turning the entire archipelago into a smoking radioactive crater. I'm quite confident, however, that instead of taking positive prophylactic action our federal government will compound its errors and create a larger problem that U.S. citizens will have to spend generations correcting.
