The Civil War Trailer

You've probably seen this trailer. If not, it is for a movie that is supposed to be portraying a civil war in the near future in the United States. The belligerents appear to be some remnant of the United States against an alliance between Texas and California, and an alliance of other states (the Florida Alliance). Most of the comments I have seen about this trailer seem to mostly focus on how unlikely would be an alliance between California and Texas. There does seem to be a consensus among some of the conservative YouTubers that this film is probably intended to further spur fears among the left of what might happen if Trump is reelected. I wonder if there is going to be a racial element to it since the most likely reason you might see Texas and California align would be based on their respective Hispanic populations.

In any event, it seems that it is no coincidence that such a film is being released in an election year.

The following video offers some additional thoughts on why we should be worried about this film which isn't about the film, per se, but the muted response or reactions to the trailer--that it isn't a novel idea but one that a certain amount of the population has accepted as almost inevitable:

    1. My guess is that the movie is intended as propaganda to build support for whatever terrible fate the powers that be have in store for MAGA people. Similar to all the allegations, later proved false, that were spread to the media to justify the level of force used against the Branch Davidians.
