White House Releases Coronavirus Guidelines

You can get the guidelines here (PDF). Most of it is common sense stuff, but while the CDC was just saying a few days ago to cancel gatherings of more than 50 people, the new guidelines are saying to avoid gatherings of more than 10 people.

Meanwhile, the Daily Mail reports that "San Francisco announces three week lockdown: Residents are BANNED from leaving home after midnight on Tuesday for anything but doctor's visits or grocery shops to fight coronavirus." San Francisco Mayor London Breed called it a "defining moment," according to the article.

  1. We had a lockdown hoax here in Cincinnati yesterday. Someone, probably overseas, convinced a number of certain individuals that a two week long stay at home directive would be issued later in the day. Those recipients quickly notified friends and family...yours truly included that we were about to be stuck at home for two weeks. We hurriedly (and worriedly) ran straight to the grocery store and attempted to fill out out existing stash of food and supplies. About an hour after getting back from the store, the same person called to tell us it was a false alarm. I guess I should be mad or feeling like a chump...but TBH everything I bought is stuff I will normally use anyway, and now I am just a bit better prepared than I was yesterday. At any rate, the hoax gave me a realistic experience of what it would be like...and it also made me realize that we are not out of the woods yet. Such a scenario could happen, and becomes more likely for all of us when San Francisco and other cities start the trend.

    1. We could make it, but we'd be eating a lot of homemade bread.
